The yellow flowers that you pick by the cove came to the city, like so many other things, in times of war. Perhaps a cutting accidentally introduced between opium buds with the cargo of a European ship. Their incomplete history prompts the memory of all the things that happened in this place, when Kowloon was still just a colonial port.
